Ark-La-Tex MOAA 2026 Chapter Scholarship Applications Available!
The Ark-La-Tex MOAA chapter offers as much as $30,000 in scholarship grants to graduating high school seniors intending to continue their education at the college or university level in the Fall Semester.
Each year the Ark-La-Tex chapter offers deserving high school seniors the opportunity to compete for thousands of dollars in scholarship grants. Grants range in value from a minimum of $1,000 to as much as $4,000 or potentially more.
Scholarship recipients are recognized with a medallion and awarded their scholarship at an annual Chapter sponsored Awards Dinner. Awards are mailed to those recipients unable to attend the Dinner. The Chapter sponsors the scholarship recipient and two additional guests to the Awards Dinner.
Financial need is not considered in the selection of Scholarship recipients. Use the links at the top of the page to download the Scholarship program cover letter, instructions and application. The chapter has two categories with slightly different qualifications and criteria:
Academic Excellence Scholarships
This category focus is predominately predicated on academic performance in combination with demonstrated leadership, earned honors and school/community involvement. The category is open to:
Children, grandchildren or great grandchildren of and sponsored by a chapter member in good standing for at least the preceding two previous years. Members in good standing for two years preceding date of death are still recognized for scholarship sponsoring.
Note: Eligible Leadership Scholarship applicants choosing to compete. (reference below).
Leadership Scholarships
This category focus is predominately predicated on demonstrated leadership in Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and/or Civil Air Patrol (JROTC/CAP); nominated/pending offer of appointment to a military academy; or will apply/enroll in a college/university ROTC program. Additional consideration is given to leadership roles in school/community projects or programs, earned honors or awards, and academic performance. The maximum amount for Leadership Scholarship grants is typically $1,000.The category is open to:
- Graduating seniors currently enrolled in JROTC or participating in Civil Air Patrol (CAP).
Note: Qualified applicants in this category may choose to be considered under the Chapter Academic Excellence Scholarship in place of a Leadership Scholarship, if so desired. (Academic Excellence Scholarships are typically of higher value with greater emphasis on academic performance and achievement.) - Graduating seniors previously enrolled and successfully completed at least two years of JROTC.
Note: Nomination/pending offer of appointment to an academy or enrolling in college/university ROTC program IS NOT required. - Graduating seniors nominated/pending offer of appointment to a military academy or committed to enrolling in a college/university ROTC program.
Note: Previous JROTC/CAP involvement IS NOT required.
