Capt. Dave Jampole
Fellow MOAA Members,

I am honored to have been elected to serve as this year’s president of the Ark-La-Tex Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America. As in past years, we have planned numerous activities throughout the upcoming year that we hope will interest you and strengthen your participation in our chapter. I encourage all members to plan to attend as many of our functions as you can. We have planned both luncheon and evening dinner functions to foster a sense of brotherhood throughout our membership, while at the same time keeping you up to date with local and national news that you want to know about. Membership and communication are two themes stressed by our past president. Both are critical to the success of all MOAA does. I want to continue what has been started last year and take both these important themes to the next level this year with your assistance. If there is anything the chapter can do to meet a need that we haven’t recognized or addressed, PLEASE let me know. My email address and phone number are listed elsewhere in this newsletter.

Increasing our membership is an important goal we all must assume. MOAA is only as strong as is its membership. Numbers speak loudly to our representatives in Congress. The larger, more active and involved our Chapter membership, the more loudly MOAA speaks on Capital Hill. I strongly encourage all members to actively recruit a potential member, either active or retired, to MOAA and to our Ark-La-Tex Chapter. Membership in both organizations is a tremendous investment in all our futures for a very nominal cost. I strongly encourage you to bring a potential member when you attend a MOAA function.

Communication is how we inform potential members of all MOAA does for both active and retired members of the Armed Forces of our great Nation. MOAA works tirelessly on issues critical to both active and retired members of the Armed Forces and offers many additional benefits to its members. I strongly encourage all members to speak to your friends about what MOAA does and the benefits you enjoy as members. Your willingness to discuss all that MOAA offers with others is the most effective of all recruitment efforts.

We will be looking at incorporating new technologies to make it easier to keep our membership informed about activities and events throughout the Chapter and MOAA National.

Revisit our website often for the latest on all MOAA is doing for you. If you have an e-mail address, please provide it to the Chapter so that information can be provided to you via cyberspace. Read and pass to potential members the excellent news letter the Chapter provides. Most importantly though, make it a resolution to get actively involved with your Chapter now. Help us make this the best year ever for both MOAA and our Ark-La-Tex Chapter.
